Psalm 37:7-9 says: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.”

Today’s Devotion: “Keeping Up with the Joneses”

How come they just got that new house ? I’ve been praying for a house for years. How come they just got that new job ? I’ve been unemployed for 2 years. How come ? How come ? How come ? Some times we can get frustrated with God because we see Him moving in everyone’s lives except our own. We try to see what they did and then copy to see if maybe it will work the same way it did for another person. Then, many of us try to copy like those who are of the world. What do we mean by this ? We begin to do things those who do not love Jesus do. Maybe we begin cutting corners. Maybe it’s a lie here and there to get that job. Maybe, it’s a hustle that we just copied from someone else and don’t even have the passion for. Maybe we end up sacrificing our Christ-like image just to get what we’ve been praying for all along.

Let Girls of Royalty tell you something. What is meant for YOU is ONLY for YOU. That job that you’ve been praying for only YOU can get. That house that you’ve been believing for ONLY YOU can obtain. In Psalm 37:7-9, the scripture lays out commandments for the believer. Stop worrying about what those in the world do or obtain. Also, do not look up to people who obtain their wealth and resources from the world’s system. If you keep on focusing on that, you will begin to think that their way is the only way to gain success. The last sentence in this particular passage says: “Those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the Land”. Look at the word “inherit”. The word inherit means that it has already been destined to belong to you. You are to inherit that which God has already destined for you to have. Stop focusing on what others are doing.

Just focus on having a pure heart and being patient in knowing that God is MORE than able to do what He has promised. God is NOT a liar. You don’t know what He is going to do in your life. Maybe the house God has for you hasn’t even been built yet. Maybe the job God has for you hasn’t been created yet. What if an evil doer is about to be fired so that you (a child of God) can take their place ? This passage says that the “evildoers shall be cut off”. Never think that the good guys never win. According to the Bible, the good guys always win. Sometimes it doesn’t look that way but remember that God doesn’t look at what’s happening on the outside.

God is all about the heart. So just focus on what God has promised to you and keep your eyes on Him at ALL times. Yes, it can be harder said than done. However, God said that He would never leave us nor forsake us. Even when you feel like you’re about to give up, just remember that the Holy Spirit is with you EVERY step of the way. #girlsofroyalty
